Chief Marketing Officer – Natural Beauty brand

Our client

Fella & Jones were approached by a leading Beauty and Cosmetics Brand (bucking the trend offering cruelty free, non-toxic and ethically sourced products that could be easily accessible by the growing market of consumers looking for product with a purpose. Over the last two years, the brand saw pheromonal growth across their wholesale and digital channels. To support the next chapter in the brands five-year plan, the business engaged Fella & Jones to appoint their first CMO to the business.

How we did it

As a mission focused organisation and client within beauty and cosmetics, an industry which has seen incredible growth in both women and men over the last 5 years. Fella & Jones delved deep into the global beauty market and other mission-based brands to produce an extensive long list of brands and profiles to share with the CEO.

During our shortlisting period, the team evaluated candidates proven experience in “defining marketing strategies”, someone who was able to plan and organise marketing functions and operations across Product Development, Branding and Communications (and Performance. It was imperative to identify the right person who would be able to immerse themselves in this brands vision and future working creatively yet analytically. With this in mind, our client wanted the “right person” to be passionate about the brands journey, growth and ethos with strong leadership experience to further establish the brand internationally. Along with the technical abilities, Fella & Jones completed personality and psychometric testing on all shortlisted candidates. The final stage of the interview process involved two final candidates completing a “first 90 day” strategy plan for the business along with a new product launch campaign. This was presented to the board at their final meetings. After careful consideration, our client decided to extend an offer to a candidate who joined from a larger beauty group spanning 17 years of experience with exposure to different international markets. An exciting hire for the business, and one which is continuing to play a key role in this company’s success to date.
